In 2019 I saw a plane on eBay that looked a little bit different blue plastic & aluminium with an interchangeable blade.
Having bought the plane – I started looking to find out about it, but to date I have not had any luck.
So the box says such things as:
- Interchangeable
- Revolutionary Plane
- Rotaplane
- Revolutionary New D.I.Y. Plane
- A must for every home workshop
- Simple single adjusting knob
- Pat. 799561
On the subject of the Patent Number (which is also cast into the plastic on the plane) – I have not been able to find it on the internet.
I have also only found 1 identical plane – which was found doing a AI picture search and showed one in (I think) Indonesia that had been on an online marketplace.
The dimensions are:
- Length – 300mm
- Width – 68mm
- Thickness – 20mm
- Blade width – 53mm
Two spare blades were in the box.
Instructions for fitting the blade & adjusting it were on the box.
My experience was that the plane is not very good – needing a lot of fiddling with the blade to get some sort of shaving. It is also very light so requires a lot of downward pressure. This one fits into my collection as something a bit different & cheap – it is certainly not a quality product.
